The Very Rough Road to Rio — Hagerty Drivers Club Article

This month the article for the Hagerty Drivers Club magazine has been printed and published online: https://www.hagerty.com/media/great-reads/the-rough-road-to-rio-an-mg-adventure-for-the-ages

Great work by Stefan Lombard, the Editor at Large of Hagerty Drivers Club magazine. He really took an initial article I had and a set of press clippings, and brought in so much more. Credit to Kim Dyson for meeting him and putting us in touch.

Even after working in digital marketing my whole career, I have to say how print is so powerful. The tactile nature of the magazine, and knowing it is being circulated to over 750,000 people.

Of course, this morning, reading the online version, it was fun to see additional photos and the comments from the Hagerty readership. Real car enthusiasts. People that recognize a vehicle isn’t just for transport, it is for an emotional escape and a route to adventure.

I’m still interested in on developing this story. The plan is to use this blog for quick thoughts and different explorations, but then publish more filled out essays on Substack at Pan America 1954.

And perhaps make a photobook because that would be a lot of fun to do and I’m surrounded by photobook enthusiasts at ICP!
